Sam Goodchild and Leyton take on a bold new challenge with the Vendée Globe 2024!

“Better Never Stops”. We too share this motto that punctuates Sam’s daily life.

At Leyton, we love pressure. We love having the wind in our sails, we love a fast-moving pace, we love a favourable breeze, we love being up on top… In short, we love driving ever forward.
Especially when it comes to helping our teams achieve their ambitions!
So, when Sam shared with us his desire to set sail on the Vendée Globe, we didn’t hesitate to accompany him on this fantastic adventure!

As such, this year will be an important turning point in the story that links us to our skipper. An extraordinary human story, which will see him traverse the most hostile seas on the planet. An ambitious story, it too guided by performance and commitment.

After four seasons punctuated by a great slew of successes, ranging from Class40, to Figaro to Ocean Fifty, we’re proud to be alongside Sam in this exceptional new challenge. It’s a challenge whose aims in terms of social engagement and environmental commitments will be another step up from those championed since the start of the project by Leyton Sailing Team.

Whilst we’re still working out the finer details of this ambitious project with our future partners, Sam is already preparing the way by spending the next few months gaining some valuable experience in IMOCA as part of Kevin Escoffier’s team aboard Holcim-PRB for several legs of The Ocean Race. This crewed round the world with stopovers is the ideal opportunity to race aboard these high-tech boats. It’s the perfect transition before he captains his own boat!
