On Tuesday 11th June, we had the pleasure of organizing the first edition of Leyton Connect in Toronto. Fernanda Navarro, Business Development Manager & C2C Program Lead at the Ontario Centre of Innovation, took the opportunity to present a number of funding programs and fund-raising opportunities. The event brought together a number of innovative entrepreneurs over lunch, providing an opportunity for networking, presentations and rewarding discussions.

The Ontario Centre of Innovation works with government, business and educational institutions to deploy programs that accelerate the development, commercialization and adoption of leading-edge technologies to create high-quality jobs and solutions for Ontario.

Between 2022 and 2023, the OCI invested $124 million, supporting 515 Ontario companies and creating and sustaining 6,296 jobs.

During the event, Fernanda highlighted a number of non-dilutive subsidies (e.g. OVIN, CIT, TDS, TAP, etc.) and investment programs. This was followed by a question-and-answer session, giving guests the opportunity to exchange knowledge and jointly consider new business opportunities.

In conclusion, this first edition was a resounding success: participants left both inspired and motivated, ready to consider the ideas raised during the discussions to take their innovative projects forward.
