About the Program
Alberta Innovates is a catalyst for research and innovation in Alberta. With a mission to deliver on the research priorities of the Government of Alberta, the agency focuses on advancing economic benefits in key sectors such as agriculture, energy, environment, forestry, and health.
Alberta Innovates offers more than just funding. The agency plays a pivotal role in boosting economic development, fostering collaboration among stakeholders, and catalyzing the exchange of knowledge to address real-world challenges. From grants and funding to advice and specialized applied research contract services, the agency provides comprehensive support for researchers and companies.
Commercialization Associate Hiring Grant
This program offers up to $120,000 in non-dilutive funding to cover the salary costs of an Associate over a one-year term. The objectives include talent acquisition, accelerating commercialization, and providing financial resources.
Industry R&D Associates Program
With up to $105,000 in non-dilutive funding, this program supports Alberta companies with innovative solutions. The goals are to accelerate technology development, attract technical expertise, and de-risk the scaling of innovative products.
Terms & Conditions
You cannot have more than two concurrently active Associates funded by Alberta Innovates.
Additionally, the newly hired individual should not have been employed by the organization for more than twelve (12) months before the application submission date.
It is also required that the Associate intends to reside in the Province of Alberta for the duration of the investment in the project. However, the applicant may provide evidence that having the Associate located outside of the province will contribute to the success of the project.
Eligibility criteria also includes having fewer than 500 full-time employees
Having less than $50 million in annual gross revenue,
And having an innovative solution that offers a significant competitive advantage.
