grants 2025

As organizations finalize their 2025 year-end planning and set their investment priorities for 2026, several grants and funding programs stand out for their strategic alignment with Canada’s economic and regional objectives.

Beyond headline national incentives, targeted programs across Ontario and national innovation initiatives are shaping how companies prepare for capital expansion, process improvements, and industry transformation.

Below are four programs from this fall’s funding cycle that continue to provide valuable direction for businesses planning Q1 and Q2 submissions.

Southwestern Ontario Development Fund (SWODF)

Funding Amount: Up to 15% of eligible project costs

Decision Timeline: Within 60 business days of intake close.

Why it matters now:

SWODF backs projects that drive growth, productivity, innovation and regional job creation, critical priorities for companies planning significant operational expansions in Southwestern Ontario.

Who should apply:

Businesses establishing or expanding operations in eligible Southwestern Ontario regions, particularly those with projects that demonstrate clear productivity or regional economic impact.

Advanced Manufacturing & Innovation (AMIC)

Funding Amount: Access to up to 15% in project funding for advanced manufacturing investment.

Why it matters now:

AMIC supports technology adoption, workforce growth and scaling of production, key levers manufacturers use to improve competitiveness as they plan capital upgrades for 2025.

Who should apply:

Ontario-based advanced manufacturers aiming to scale operations, adopt automation or strengthen production and workforce capabilities.

Artificial Intelligence for Canadian Energy Innovation

Funding amount: Up to 75% in non-refundable contributions, $500,000–$1.5M project ranges.

Deadline: December 4, 2025 at 1:00 p.m. ET.

Why it matters now:

The program funds AI solutions that accelerate energy technology innovation and reduce costs. A clear signal that AI-enabled energy projects are a federal priority.

The contribution levels make it a high-value option for eligible projects aligned to these goals.

Who should apply:

Organisations developing or demonstrating AI systems for energy optimisation, predictive modelling, digital energy tools or other climate-aligned innovations.

Bottom line

These three programs are concrete indicators of where public funding is focused:

  • Regionally driven growth
  • Advanced manufacturing scale-up
  • AI-driven energy innovation

They offer clear direction on where 2025 grants are focused, helping Canadian organizations prioritize the most strategic opportunities for their 2026 investment plans.
