the UK that fall within the qualifying criteria.<\/p>\n<p>Every four years, qualifying businesses must audit their energy use, identifying cost-effective energy saving opportunities. They must then submit their data and findings to the respective regional regulator in order to avoid unwanted penalties.<\/p>\n<p>Governed by the Environment Agency (EA) in the UK, the scheme was initially introduced as the <a style=\"color: #eb6739;\" href=\"https:\/\/www.legislation.gov.uk\/uksi\/2014\/1643\/contents\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Energy Savings Opportunity Scheme Regulations 2014<\/a>.
