\u201cBetter never stops\u201d is a motto which epitomises the mindset of Sam, who is constantly seeking to raise his game by snapping up every opportunity that comes his way in order to progress.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In this case, during a relatively calm winter period where the boats are enjoying being pampered in the yard, Sam will get another opportunity to perform.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Indeed, on 15 January 2023, he\u2019ll take the start of The Ocean Race, one of the most intense offshore races on the sailing planet, where he\u2019ll be among the top sailors battling it out in IMOCA in crewed configuration on what will be a 9-leg sprint around the globe.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Contacted by the French skipper, Kevin Escoffier, he\u2019ll be part of the Holcim-PRB squad for a few legs.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Participation in this race is an extraordinary challenge and an incredible opportunity to rack up experience for Sam, who ultimately has his sights on the Vend\u00e9e Globe alongside Leyton.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cSailing across oceans renowned for being the harshest on the planet, on this type of boat, with a highly experienced skipper like Kevin, is a massive opportunity for me.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This race will also be the perfect occasion for Sam to get back into competition mode after the incident in the Route du Rhum: \u201cI\u2019ve put in a lot of work to get myself back to the peak of fitness physically and mentally so I can quickly get back out on the racetrack again. I\u2019ve put things into perspective and now I\u2019m setting my sights on the future with Leyton. Make way for sport!<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n
