We also have a health and safety division, but our work with Leyton has focused on M&#038;E and low carbon innovation \u2014 especially in the renewables space.&#8221;<\/p>\n<h2>Innovation<\/h2>\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/leyton.com\/uk\/wp-content\/blogs.dir\/9\/files\/2025\/04\/Website-articles-19.jpg\" alt=\"Innovation\"\/><\/figure>\n<p>&#8220;Our main area of innovation has been applying renewable technologies within historic buildings. It&#8217;s cutting edge \u2014 we\u2019re working to preserve heritage status while driving towards net zero.&#8221;<\/p>\n<h2>The Benefit<\/h2>\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/leyton.com\/uk\/wp-content\/blogs.dir\/9\/files\/2025\/02\/Website-articles-7.png\" alt=\"The Benefit\"\/><\/figure>\n<p><strong>How would you describe the R&#038;D tax claim process with Leyton?<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>&#8220;It was pretty slick. The first year was a learning curve for both sides, but over time the process has become much simpler \u2014 both in how we prepare documentation and how Leyton interprets and applies what we do.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p><strong>Has working with Leyton helped shape your understanding of R&#038;D?<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Definitely. Some things we assumed were R&#038;D, Leyton clarified weren\u2019t. But other areas we didn\u2019t think qualified, they flagged as eligible \u2014 explaining why. It\u2019s been a learning process, and we now know what to look for in our projects.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p><strong>What does your collaboration with Leyton look like in practice?<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>&#8220;It\u2019s a staged process. We outline project narratives first \u2014 well before quantifying hours \u2014 then meet with Leyton routinely to make sure we&#8217;re on track to claim appropriately.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p><strong>How did Leyton support you through your recent HMRC challenge?<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>&#8220;We really leaned on Leyton. They helped us identify the best route for our claim and categorised our workload accordingly. When HMRC raised questions, we had a meeting with them and Leyton sat in. They advised us post-meeting, helped decode the language, and guided us through the entire process.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p><strong>What was the outcome?<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>&#8220;It took time, but it was a positive outcome. HMRC weren\u2019t disputing the content of our claim \u2014 just the calculation method. Leyton had advised on that, and without their support, it would have been much harder to navigate.&#8221;<\/p>\n<h2>Would You Recommend Leyton?<\/h2>\n<p>Yes, and I already have. I\u2019ve recommended them to other design consultants and architects. From what I\u2019ve seen, they sit at the forefront of this space.<br \/>\nI\u2019ve been very happy with the process. Communication is strong, the team is consistent year after year, and we\u2019re not re-explaining things to new consultants each time.
