There are multiple options available, although the eligibility for some will depend on where you\u2019re based or the industry you work in. In this article, we explain the options available for those looking to secure funding for their next R&amp;D project.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>UKRI &amp; Innovate UK<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">UK Research and Innovation (UKRI) is a government-backed funding agency for science and research in the UK.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Within the UKRI sits Innovate UK, which is essentially the specialised business branch, driving growth by working with businesses to support research and development alongside a network of investor partners.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">At the last spending review, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ukri.org\/publications\/explainer-ukri-budget-allocations\/budget-allocations-for-uk-research-and-innovation\/\">UKRI was allocated&nbsp;\u00a37.4 billion<\/a>&nbsp;to support innovative companies, including funding for&nbsp;Innovate UK\u2019s&nbsp;wider business grant activities.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Find out more about <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ukri.org\/apply-for-funding\/\">Innovate UK R&amp;D grants<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Regional UK grants<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">As well as Innovate UK, businesses may be able to apply for a grant from one of the government\u2019s regional business support agencies for each of the four nations in the UK, including:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-leyton-orion-block-list list-block undefined\"><div class=\"container\"><div class=\"row\"><div class=\"col\"><ul><li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.businessboardnetwork.co.uk\/local-growth-hub-contacts\/\">Business Board Network: Growth hubs<\/a> (England)<\/li><li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.investni.com\/support-for-business\/research-and-development-support\/grant-for-research-and-development\">Invest Northern Ireland: Grants for R&amp;D<\/a> (Northern Ireland)<\/li><li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.scottish-enterprise.com\/how-we-can-help\/funding-and-grants\/business-grants-and-funding-calls\">Scottish Enterprise: Business grants and funding calls<\/a> (Scotland)<\/li><li><a href=\"https:\/\/businesswales.gov.wales\/topics-and-guidance\/develop-innovative-ideas-organisations-products-or-services\/support-and-funding\">Welsh Government: Support and funding<\/a> (Wales)<\/li><\/ul><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Horizon Europe<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Despite no longer being part of the European Union, UK businesses can apply for R&amp;D grant funding through&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/research-and-innovation.ec.europa.eu\/funding\/funding-opportunities\/funding-programmes-and-open-calls\/horizon-europe_en\">Horizon Europe<\/a>, the world\u2019s largest funding programme for research and innovation.
